In some cultures Tobacco (in its natural form) is a sacred plant and is used in ceremonies and given as an offering of gratitude when requiring assistance from the spirit world. This is a positive, giving use for tobacco. We’ve grown up in a culture where smoking was socially acceptable and from an early age we witnessed our own parents and friends smoke. Times have now changed, new laws are now in place where smoking is not allowed to be advertised and no longer permitted in the work place.
Cigarettes contain over 4,000 harmful chemicals 50 of which are known carcinogens and smokers are no longer in the dark about the health implications related to smoking. Yul Brynner who died from lung cancer said in an interview only released after his death “Now that I’m gone, I tell you, don’t smoke. Whatever you do, just don’t smoke.” This knowledge brings about an inner dread of what the future may hold for smokers. Are you going around in the same cycle of stopping and starting? Have you tried to quit this habit a million times over? Is it always “tomorrow I will try again”? or perhaps you have decided now is the time to stop. Hypnotherapy can help you put this antisocial habit firmly behind you.
